The little son of D.W. Wood burried here Wed. The little seven-year-old son of Mr. & Mrs. DeWilton Wood of Toledo was brought here for
burial Wed. in the family plot in Union Cem. The Boy with his mother had gone to Defiance for an over-Easter visit with relatives there and
while out Sunday afternoon with his five- year-old companion he strayed too close to the bank of the swollen river and slipped in. Before
help could be summoned the little fellow was drowned, thus turning the bright Easter day into one of deep morning for his loving parents
whose life seemed wrapt up in that of the child. Many people here will remember Mr. Wood who formerly lived here and was first married to a
member of the Luckey family. Shortly after the second marriage, after he had passed the age of 70, he joyously announced the arrival of a
bouncing baby boy at their home and ever since he has reason to be proud of the little fellow who was unusually bright. His tragic end has
brough deep sorrow to the home which has been made so happy by his presence. The bereaved parents have the sincere sympathy of their
friends here.
