9. Ephraim3 WIGHT (Thomas2, Robert1) (#1304) was born in Dedham, Norfolk Co., MA 27 JAN 1645. Ephraim died 26 FEB 1723 in Medfield, Norfolk Co., MA, at age 78.

He married Lydia MORSE 2 MAR 1668 in Medfield, Norfolk Co., MA. (Lydia MORSE is #5035.) Lydia was born 13 APR 1645 in Dedham, Norfolk Co., MA. Lydia was the daughter of Daniel MORSE and Lydia FISHER. Lydia died 14 JUL 1722 in Medfield, Norfolk Co., MA, at age 77. Moved to Dedham about 1650. Made a freeman October 8, 1672. He received the homestead on Green Street. His house escaped the ravages of King Phillip's Indians in Feb., 1676 but the residence of Thomas Wight (son ofThomas) adjoining was burned.

He encouraged the building of the first gristmill in Medway by being one of twelve citizens of Medfield who donated land for the purpose.

His mental condition later in life was mentioned when Thomas Boyden and Nathaniel Partridge, husbands of his daughters Deborah and Lydia"protested against the so-called will of our honored father, knowing him to be a religious, good man, but not capable to make a will these lasts eleven years past." Notwithstanding this protest, the will was made Sept. 27, 1717 and probated March 11, 1722-3. The original Wight homestead went to his son Daniel.
