Henry was divorced from Clara E. MILLER Norris before 1918. Henry married Clara, a previously divorced woman, they moved to Barberton, OH., they were divorced but grandma Jo couldn't remember when. Henry had a heavy drinking problem which probably caused a short life. He worked for Ohio Insulator Company, as a kiln placer. Henry and Claire adopted a daughter named Arlene. Her name was changed from Arlene Dehaus to Arlene Hickman when she was adopted by Thomas Hickman when Thomas Hickman married Clara Miller Norris DeHaus. Henry J. Dehaus shows up in the 1920 Westmoreland Co., PA Census as a boarder at 40 yrs of age and listed as single workin as a Kiln maker in an Insulator Plant. He did sign his name a few times as Henry Jacob DeHaus and not Henry Joseph DeHaus, not sure why? It appears his grandfather was named Henry Jacobus DeHaus.
