His body was interred 12 MAY 1897 in Riverside Cem., Defiance Co., OH.

He married Anna Maria "Mary" SWARTZ 25 JAN 1852 in Heddesheim, Coblenz, Prussia. (Anna Maria "Mary" SWARTZ is #151.) Anna was born 31 MAR 1825 in Heddesheim, Coblenz, Prussia. Anna(351) was the daughter of Mr. SWARTZ. Anna died 22 NOV 1889 in Defiance Co., OH., at age 64.(352) Her body was interred NOV 1889 in Riverside Cem., Defiance Co., OH. Anna immigrated to destination unknown 13 APR 1854.

John immigrated to destination unknown 13 APR 1853. The Ship was the Scheshire, found in the book Germany to America, Vol 6, Oct 1853 pg 377 an 378, listed with John 29, was his wife A. Marie age 28, Joseph 20, Elizabeth 18, Catherine 18, George 38, Regina 38, Catherine 48

Note: Regina 38 was Regina (Rosscop) Umbs, md 9 Oct, 1847 to George Umbs 38. Who does George belong to? Catherine 48 is Catherine (Deutsch) Umbs wife of Joannes Umbs, step mother to John 29 and mother to Joseph 20 and Elizabeth 18 Who does Catherine 18 belong to? to George and Regina ? John N. O. Umbs served in the Civil war in the 67th. Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry Co. E., entered service at age 40 on November 1, 1864 for 1 year of service, and was mustered out on November 2, 1865 at Richmond Va. as term expired. He Homestead 160 acres of land in Highland twp. of Defiance Co., west of Dohoney Rd. at the Richland Twp. line, of which he sold 80 acres of the south half to the Schultz family. He raised a nephew Fredrick Umbs, and a niece Louisa Umbs, (a son and daughter of Fredrick Umbs after he and his wife divorced.) besides his own children. Adam Henrich came to America to live with his uncle John N. O. Umbs. Adam & Barbara (Huffman) Henrich lived with them for a short time after they were married and ., until they could get established, according to the 1890 city of Defiance directory, he also had grandchildren Anna, and Henry DeHaus living with Him at 846 Kentner St.(formerly Fredrick Umbs Home). According to Grandma Jo (DeHaus) Barber, Adam Henrich was a nephew of John Umbs, two of John's sisters remained in Prussia, and did not immigrate to the U.S. as Adam came here after his mother died. He had other Brothers whom remained in Prussia. Adam Henrich's mother name was either Agnes or Margareth.

Her body was interred 8 JAN 1940 in Riverside Cem., Defiance Co., OH. She married Anthony Henry DEHAUS 18 MAY 1876 in Defiance, Defiance Co., OH.(354) (Anthony Henry DEHAUS is #142.) Anthony was born 20 FEB 1848 in Hanover, Germany. Anthony was the son of Mr. DEHAUS. Anthony died 17 AUG 1890 in Defiance, Defiance Co., OH, at age 42. His body was interred AUG 1890 in Riverside Cem., Defiance Co., OH. Anthony immigrated to destination unknown before 1876. (See Anthony Henry DEHAUS for the continuation of this line.) Obit: Mrs. DeHaus, 83, Taken by death, Rites will be held monday in St. Johns Catholic Church. Mrs Elizabeth DeHaus, widow of Anthony DeHaus, died today at 6 a.m. at her home, 846 Kintner St., after suffering a cerebral Thrombusis several days ago. the body has been removed to the Mansfield Funeral Home where it will remain until the services which will be held a 9 a.m. in the church Msgr. George H. Lang will officiate and burial will be in the riverside cem., Mrs DeHaus was born in Defiance on March 8 1856, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Umbs. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Charles Barber at home and Miss Catherine DeHaus, Laport IN. and two (4 is correct) grandchildren. four children proceded her in death.

Based on what Aunt Kay said, that her grandmother had arthritis and quite severe.
