John Umbs Jr.

9. John2 UMBS (Anna Maria "Mary"1 SCHWARTZ, Joannis AdamiA) (#1706) was born in Heddesheim, Rheinland, Prussia 9 DEC 1852.(11) I found a baptism record for him listed as 11 DEC 1852 Katholisch, Heddesheim, Rheinland, Preussen , This probably would be correct as it came from the catholic chruch, so his date of birth I have listed as May 1853 probably is incorrect. May 1853 came from death certificate record. John died 8 NOV 1935 in Lucas Co., OH, at age 82. His body was interred NOV 1935 in Oregon, Lucas Co., OH. Willow Cem.

He married twice. He married Mary Ellen MCGOVERN 5 SEP 1878 in Defiance Co., OH..(12) (Mary Ellen MCGOVERN is #3964.) Mary was born 20 NOV 1860. (Additional notes for Mary Ellen MCGOVERN(13)) Mary died 10 MAY 1879 in Defiance Co., OH., at age 18.(14) Her body was interred MAY 1879 in Riverside Cem., Defiance Co., OH. He married Frances Corneillia MOORE 5 MAY 1881 in Defiance Co., OH.. (Frances Corneillia MOORE is #3966.) Frances was born 20 NOV 1860 in Defiance, Defiance Co., OH. (Additional notes for Frances Corneillia MOORE(15)) Frances died 12 JAN 1893 in Defiance, Defiance Co., OH, at age 32. Her body was interred 15 JAN 1893 in Riverside Cem., Defiance Co., OH. Obit: A DEPLORABLE AFFAIR. Mrs. Umbs, of East Defiance, Died Saturday and while her body was lying in a room the clothing caught fire presumably from a candle burning near the corpse. There was no one in the room at the time and the corpse was badly burned and shockingly disfigured before the fire could be extinguished. The affair happened late Saturday afternoon. 2nd obit: Frances Umbs, aged 33 years, died at her home in east Defiance at 7 p.m. Friday Evening of consumption (Turberculosis). The funeral was held from the English Catholic Church (St Mary's) at 9 a.m. monday morning.

He was baptized 11 DEC 1852 in Heddesheim, Rheinland, Prussia. the baptism is dated 25 JAN 1852 which conflicts with his birth record and the marriage of his parents??

John immigrated to destination unknown 13 APR 1854. need to research Albany NY. as a first destination stop after entering the U.S. as some of the Umbs children were born there during this period? I feel that John was born in the USA probably NY too. The correct year was 1853 ?

When John was age 29 and Frances Corneillia MOORE was age 21 they became the parents of John Henry UMBS 11 FEB 1882 in Highland Twp., Defiance Co., OH. When John was age 30 and Frances Corneillia MOORE was age 22 they became the parents of Agnes Mary A. UMBS 20 JUN 1883 in Defiance Co., OH..
