Biographical History of Putnam Co., "Charles Wight" Reuben Wight Father of Charles Wight was reared as a farmer, but afterward followed vocations of carpenter and painter. He received a common-school education and was a man of intelligence and excellent parts. In 1852 he was married in Lorain Co. to Miss Altha Reichard who was born in the state of New York in May, 1828. They lived in Lorain county for a few years then removed to Wood County, OH., where they made their home for nine years, afterward returning to Lorain County. Here they lived on their farm of sixty acres, and here the father still resides, his beloved wife having passed away in 1894. Both became active members of the Baptist Church, and ever stood high in the regard of their fellow-men. He served in the Civil war as Sgt. Ohio Co. E 144 Div. Hasting Post no. 207 Entered May 2, 1864, mustered out Aug., 1864. He was also an Engineer on the C.C.C. and I. R.R.
