42. James⁶ BARBER (William⁵, Moses⁴, James A.³, James², Thomas¹) (#7392) was born in South Kingstown, RI 11 AUG 1726. James died 10 OCT 1821 in South Kingstown, RI, at age 95. His body was interred 12 OCT 1821 in South Kingstown, RI. Glen Rock Rd. Cem., now known as R.I. Historical cem. #1

He married three times. He married Ann BARBER date unknown. (Ann BARBER is #7416.) He married ? MUMFORD 1742 in RI. (? MUMFORD is #7410.) ? was the daughter of George MUMFORD and Mary ROBINSON. ? died ca 1748 in RI, at age unknown. He married Margaret WILCOX ca 1768 in RI. (Margaret WILCOX is #7422.) Margaret was born JUN 1746/7 in RI. Margaret died 28 FEB 1849/50 at age 102. 103y, 8m, age at her death. Two sones, given names knknown, of James' earlier marriage (Ann or Rebecca?) lost their lives in the Revolutionary War.

Note that James Barber himself was a Revolutionary War Soldier, as he served as a private three months in 1775 guarding the shores of South Kingstown, RI and in 1778 he served fro one month in General Sullivan's expedition to the Island of Rhode Island and was wounded in the thigh. Healing tood three or four months before he could go on duty again. Then in the spring of 1781 saw him on guard duty at South Kingstown and Howland's Ferry.
