He married Martha (?) NICHOLS circa 1869 in Angola, Stuben Co., IN. (Martha (?) NICHOLS reference ALICE-SH) (Martha (?) NICHOLS is #1535.) Martha was born circa 1851 in IN. I find Martha Nichols and her son Freddie and apparently she was separated from her husband John Nichols as he was living with his parents? She was listed as a seamstress.

When John was age 25 and Martha (?) NICHOLS was age 19 they became the parents of Arthur NICHOLS 1870 in Angola, Stuben Co., IN. When John was age 26 and Martha (?) NICHOLS was age 20 they became the parents of Percy NICHOLS 1871 in Angola, Stuben Co., IN. When John was age 28 and Martha (?) NICHOLS was age 22 they became the parents of Fred NICHOLS 1873 in Angola, Stuben Co., IN. A Painter by trade, in the 1880 Census he is living with his parents in Steuben and with son Arthur age 10. I did find a Percy Nichols living in Ohio in the 1880 census living with the Jocob J. Durr Family as Nephew and was the same age and also born in IN. Also I found Martha with Freddie in the 1880 US Steuben, Angola District 6 Census, and not with her husband John H. and Arthur? Possible seperation? John H. and Arthur and living with his parent Henry and Elizabeth in the 1880 US Steuben Co., Census

John H. NICHOLS and Martha (?) NICHOLS had the following children:

139 i. Arthur⁴ NICHOLS⁽³⁵⁾ reference ALICE-SH (#1536) was born in Angola, Stuben Co.,, IN 1870. Arthur died date unknown at age unknown.

140 ii. Percy NICHOLS⁽³⁶⁾ (#3180) was born in Angola, Stuben Co.,, IN 1871. Percy died date unknown at age unknown. Could the Percy Nichols age 8 in the 1880 Green Twp., Mohoning Co., OH., living with Jacob J.Durr as Nephew be the same Percy Nichols

I did find him in the US Army, Register of Enlistments, 1798-1914 Records Year 7 JUL 1898 and it does list him as born in Angola and his name as Percy B. Nichols.

141 iii. Fred NICHOLS⁽³⁷⁾ (#3181) was born in Angola, Stuben Co.,, IN 1873. Fred died date unknown at age unknown.
