1. William Sr.¹ MILLER (#167) was born in VA 1775. I have seen the birth location listed as VA, PA, and MD. I do believe it is in what is called WV now. VA maybe correct during his birth but in 1863 it became a sperate state of WV. William died after 1860 at age unknown.⁽¹⁾

He married Elizabeth "Betsy" NOOLS circa 1807 in PA. location assumed (Elizabeth "Betsy" NOOLS is #168.)

Elizabeth was born 22 FEB 1782 in PA. (Additional notes for Elizabeth "Betsy" NOOLS⁽²⁾) Elizabeth died 2 APR 1872 in Angola, Stuben Co., IN, at age 90. Her body was interred APR 1872 in OWeatherheadCe, Angola, IN.. Betsy resided with her son William Miller during the 1850 census see 132-132 Defiance Twp. Defiance Co. OH, apparently after that she moved with Her youngest son Samuel Miller at Angola, IN, and also with her daughter Elizabeth (Miller) Nichols at Angola, IN as well. The 1870 census shows her living with Henry and Elizabeth Nichols as age 89. Obit: Mrs. Miller Mrs. Miller, mother of Samuel Miller and Mrs. Henry Nichols of this place, died this morning at the advanced age of 94 years.

I am wondering if she could be the daughter of George Nool bn 1750 PA and in the 1790 census was in Dauphin Co., PA Was her maiden name actually Nools or Nool

When William was age 33 and Elizabeth "Betsy" NOOLS was age 26 they became the parents of William MILLER Jr. 1808 in Abbottstown, Adams Co., PA. When William was age unknown and Elizabeth "Betsy" NOOLS was age unknown they became the parents of Polly MILLER circa 1815 in VA. When William was age 42 and Elizabeth "Betsy" NOOLS was age 35 they became the parents of Henry MILLER 1817 in Hagerstown, VA. Though Family records indicate birth as Hagerstown, VA I actually believe it is Hagerstown, MD

When William was age 45 and Elizabeth "Betsy" NOOLS was age 38 they became the parents of George MILLER 1820 in PA. during this time his family was living near Sommerset so that may be a possible location of his birth

When William was age 47 and Elizabeth "Betsy" NOOLS was age 41 they became the parents of John J. MILLER 18 MAR 1823 in Canton, Stark Co., OH. When William was age 48 and Elizabeth "Betsy" NOOLS was age 42 they became the parents of Catherine Ann MILLER 22 APR 1824 in Massillon, Stark Co., OH. When William was age 50 and Elizabeth "Betsy" NOOLS was age 43 they became the parents of Elizabeth A. MILLER 4 AUG 1825 in Canton, Stark Co., OH. When William was age unknown and Elizabeth "Betsy" NOOLS was age unknown they became the parents of Sarah MILLER circa 1827 in Canton, Stark Co., OH. When William was age 55 and Elizabeth "Betsy" NOOLS was age 49 they became the parents of Margaret MILLER 7 MAY 1831 in Stark Co., OH. When William was age 59 and Elizabeth "Betsy" NOOLS was age 52 they became the parents of Samuel MILLER 18 SEP 1834 in Stark Co., OH. William was listed as the head of a family on the 1860 Census in Defiance Co., OH.. He was living with his son John Miller in the City of Defiance, Defiance Co., OH and has his age is listed as 85 and born in PA It appears that William resided in Abbottstown, Adams Co., PA as a hatter, then went to Hagerstown, Washington Co., MD, then to Sommerset, Somerset Co., PA, then to Canton, Stark Co., OH, then to Bucyrus, Crawford Co., OH and finally to Defiance, Defiance Co., OH throughtout his life. In later years it appears that he and his wife were kept by different family members do to their age.

He may have had a brother Christian Miller who had a son Benjamin Miller? Or Christian was a nephew? further research is needed! From many family members which indicated that Benjamin Miller born 1825 VA of Evansport, OH (1850 census) was a cousin, he died in Wauseon, OH in 1889 and had just one daughter Florence Sanker and two sons with a second wife, George, Earle and Albert R. He was married to a Isabel Christy first. And a Mary or Anna Fleet second.

Though he had listed VA as his birth location in one census, in the 1860 census he list PA as a birth location? Also have seen MD?

William Sr. MILLER and Elizabeth "Betsy" NOOLS had the following children:

+ 6 v. John J. MILLER was born 18 MAR 1823.

+ 7 vi. Catherine Ann MILLER was born 22 APR 1824.

+ 8 vii. Elizabeth A. MILLER was born 4 AUG 1825.

9 viii. Sarah MILLER (#174) was born in Canton, Stark Co., OH circa 1827. Sarah died after 1883 at age unknown.

+ 10 ix. Margaret MILLER was born 7 MAY 1831.

+ 11 x. Samuel MILLER was born 18 SEP 1834.
