He married Mrs. Vernum (?) BARBER date unknown. (Mrs. Vernum (?) BARBER is #6973.) Mrs. was born 1830 in PA. Mary Jane remarried after the death of husband, I also found her md to a D.H. Barber in WI in 1860 Further work is need on his children and marriage? Some family records indicate he was a Physican in Michigan, need further proof. He does show in the 1840 Census Oswego Co., NY with three females listed in the home, 2 ages 5-10 and one 20-30.

I found a Vernon K. Barber bn 1827 Unadilla, Livingston Co., MI son?

2nd one in 1851 same Vernon K. Barber and he was md to Marcia S. Skidmore

I also find a Vernon Barber bn 14 Dec 1915 MI and did 14 Jan 2004 Hidalgo, TX

Note: There is a Vernum Barber died 1862 buried in Galway Village Cem. Enlisted Co. C. 115th NY Inf. 8/7/1862. Died Washington Hospital Dec. 7 1862. No other info. The 1865 Galway Town Civil War records add that he was a Galway resident who enlisted at Galway for 3 years for a $10 enlistment bounty. He was taken prisoner at Maryland Heights. Exchanged. Died at Arlington Dec. 8 1862 was brought home and buried at Galway. Cause of death was the measles. according to my civil war research this one was 26 yrs old on enlistment. Who is he the son of? Could very possibly be a son of Benjamin Barber Jr.? He would have been born ca1836
