He married twice. He married Mrs. ? (?) BARBER ca 1831 in NY. (Mrs. ? (?) BARBER is #10094.) He married Dianna BRIDLEBOUGH ca 1842 in NY. (Dianna BRIDLEBOUGH is #6973.) Dianna was born NOV 1824 in NY. Dianna died date unknown in MI, at age unknown. Dianna md to a Mead after the death of Dr. Vernum Kenyon Barber, she resides in Milan, Monroe Co., MI 1900 US Census

When Vernum was age unknown and Mrs. ? (?) BARBER was age unknown they became the parents of Dau 1 BARBER ca 1832 in Oswego Co., NY. When Vernum was age unknown and Mrs. ? (?) BARBER was age unknown they became the parents of Dau 2 BARBER ca 1834 in Oswego Co., NY. When Vernum was age 34 and Dianna BRIDLEBOUGH was age 18 they became the parents of Sarah BARBER 1843 in Montgomery Co., NY. When Vernum was age 42 and Dianna BRIDLEBOUGH was age 26 they became the parents of Pruella Janet BARBER 14 JUL 1851 in Montgomery Co., NY. Further work is need on his first two children and his wife of his first marriage? Family records indicate he was a Physican in New York, and eventually in Grand Ledge, Michigan.

He does show in the 1840 Census W. Oswego Twp. Oswego Co., NY with three females listed in the home, 2 ages 5-10 and one 20-30. (first wife and two daughters) He shows up again in 1850 Census in Montgomery Co., NY, with wife Dianna, and daughter Sarah.

I did find him, Vernum K. Barber in the Michigan US IRS Tax Assessment list 1862-1918 and it does list occupation as a Physician which matches comments in family historical records. District 3; Annual Lists, May 1863. Location listed as Grand Ledge, MI and family records indicated that he died in a blizzard or snow storm while enroute to a medical call?

He was md. twice, two daughters with the first marriage, and daughters Sarah and Pruella with second wife Dianna Janet Bridlebough.

Pruella death certificate indicates her father was Rev. V. K .Barber, though census and tax records indicates he was a physician.

I found a Vernon K. Barber bn 1827 Unadilla, Livingston Co., MI? This one likely is no connection.

2nd one in 1851 same Vernon K. Barber and he was md to Marcia S. Skidmore

I also find a Vernon Barber bn 14 Dec 1915 MI and died 14 Jan 2004 Hidalgo, TX

Note: There is a Vernum Barber died 1862 buried in Galway Village Cem. Enlisted Co. C. 115th NY Inf. 8/7/1862. Died Washington Mount Pleasant Hospital Dec. 7 1862. No other info. The 1865 Galway Town Civil War records add that he was a Galway resident who enlisted at Galway for 3 years for a $10 enlistment bounty. He was taken prisoner at Maryland Heights. Exchanged. Died at Arlington Dec. 7 1862 was brought home and buried at Galway. Cause of death was the measles. His occupation in the army was listed as a mechanic. His birth location was listed a Providence, NY

according to my civil war research this one was 26 yrs old on enlistment. Who is he the son of? Most likely the son of Benjamin Barber Jr.? He would have been born ca1836 to Benjamin and Rhoda Barber and named after his uncle V. K. Barber?
