3. Andrew C. O.1 DAUSER (Henry J.A DEHAUS)(3) (#3045) was born in Bamberg, Bavaria, Germany 18 APR 1850. Andrew died 24 APR 1930 in Chicago, Cook Co., IL, at age 80. Most likely Illinois

He married Elizabeth W. WINTERMEIER 18 NOV 1876 in Chicago, Cook Co., IL. (Elizabeth W. WINTERMEIER is #10070.) Elizabeth was born 19 APR 1855 in Tutzheim Hessen, Germany. Elizabeth was the daughter of Wilhelm WINTERMEIER and Wilhelmena (?) WINTERMEIER. Elizabeth died 8 NOV 1926 in Chicago, Cook Co., IL, at age 71. in the 1910 census she list 5 born /4 living children.

in the 1920 census she is living with daughter Clara and she was listed as a widow which is incorrect as Andrew was still alive, they most likely would have been seperated?

Did also see her name as Wintermeier, Wintermeyer and Winkerman

She and her brother's family stayed breifly in Defiance, OH then onto Chicago, apparently this is when & where Andrew met her.

She came to the USA with her Brother Wilhelm Wintermeier and his family, his wife's name was Louisa, they had children named Emma, Adolph, & Wilhelm.

Andrew immigrated to destination unknown 28 JUL 1873. departed Antwerp for England, the to the USA, Defiance, Ohio

When Andrew was age 27 and Elizabeth W. WINTERMEIER was age 22 they became the parents of Emma Wilhelmina DAUSER 26 OCT 1877 in Chicago, Cook Co., IL. Also seen as 28 Oct 1876, also at the time of her birth her father used Dause

He petitioned the court to become a citizen 1 NOV 1880 in Chicago, Cook Co., IL. or 1 NOV 1888

When Andrew was age 31 and Elizabeth W. WINTERMEIER was age 26 they became the parents of Clara Johana DAUSER 18 NOV 1881 in Chicago, Cook Co., IL. When Andrew was age 34 and Elizabeth W. WINTERMEIER was age 29 they became the parents of Bertha Gertrude DAUSER 1884 in Chicago, Cook Co., IL. When Andrew was age 34 and Elizabeth W. WINTERMEIER was age 29 they became the parents of William Charles "Willy" DAUSER Sr. 12 FEB 1885 in Chicago, Cook Co., IL. The 1877-1878 Defiance City Directory shows Andrew DeyHouse residing at Jackson St. between Forth & Fifth St. as A. Deyhouse Andrew met Elizabeth Wintermeier in Defiance, OH and then her brother's family moved or continued on to Chicago, and Andrew followed her there, were they married and it does appear they moved back to Defiance after the birth of their daughter Emma, and after a number of months in Defiance they then moved back to Chicago. He was listed as a butcher in both Defiance and Chicago. That was last known location for Andrew Dauser family was in Chicago but they did for a short time also to live in Nebraska near Troy? (family photo from this town), this family did move back to Chicago, IL Again. Andrew owned and operated a meat market (s) and a soloon in Chicago. My Great Aunt Kate DeHaus did say that they lived briefly in Troy, Nebraska. I have seen a photo of the family that has Troy, Nebraska on the back.

I need to check various possible spellings of the name such as DeHus, de Heus, Dey House, Dause or Dauser or even Dauss? What is correct and used in Bavaria, Germany? Kate Dehaus used to talk about an Uncle Andy Dauser and his family, I believe from her talks she may have visited them in Chicago several times. Aunt Kay also mentioned a Cousin Willie Dauser, though his actual name was William Charles Dauser Sr. who was a first cousin to my Grandmother Josephine Barber There is a DeyHouse infant buried in a unmarked grave in Defiance and I ask Grandma if this infant was from her parents family she said No, the stillborn was from Uncle Andrew and Aunt Elizabeth. In the 1900 US Census Elizabeth states 5 children born and 4 children living. This child must have been stillborn about 1878

Great Aunt Kate pronounced the name Dey whoo sr or Dey whoos, I think the r was silent or maybe did not even exist.

I found this family in the 1910 US Illinois Cook Co., Chicago Ward 23 district 971 and the last name was spelled "Dause"

I found this family in the 1900 US Illinios Cook Co., Chicago Ward 17 district and the last name was spelled "Dauser"

Andrew went back to Bamberg Germany in 1904, 1922 & 1925 for a visit! Possible even more visits, a total of 5 times. Was there other siblings? Great Aunt Kate did mention some names but never said if they were sibings to her father.

Andrew's early occupation was listed as a butcher, he owned a meat market in Chicago and also a soloon.

His middle name may have been Charles & Owen, in one Chicago City directory I did see his name as Andrew C. O. Dauser? Both Charles and Owen are used as middle names in grandchildren.

Andrew Dauser is listed in the 1880 US Census and the city directory of Defiance Co., OH as A. Deyhouse with birth place listed as Bavaria, which I do believe from Dad's comments and Aunt Kay it was Bamburg Bavaria Germany though they departed for America from Hanover, Germany. Andrew with Elizabeth and Emma came to Defiance and stayed for a year or less then went back to Chicago.

He had Heterochromia
