When Barbara was age 36 and John Sebastion WEISENBURGER was age 40 they became the parents of Nina WEISENBURGER 31 JUL 1892 in Defiance Co., OH.. The two Barbara Millers of N. Clinton St., Defiance, OH. One lived at the NW corner of Sessions and Clinton, the other lived immediately north on Clinton, or side by side. Both had the same first name which came from their Aunt Barbara (Null) Fry, though the difference in age was a coupe of years. The south one had red hair and the north one had blond/red hair, both were built the same and they were first cousins. John J. & Sarah (Null) Miller lived at the corner and the first house north on Clinton was Henry & Mary (Null) Miller. John and Henry were brothers and Sarah and Mary were sisters. The two Barbara’s were best friends besides being first cousins. Everyone in the immediate family knew them apart. It was not a problem until they went to school in a one room schoolhouse. Now two girls with the same name and who also looked a like was not going to work. The teacher contacted each mother and to make class life easier they both would use their middle names. Barbara Adeline Miller would use Adeline and Barbara Ellen Miller would use Ellen. The use of the middle names stuck with them even in later life. Eventually Adeline would marry John C. Barber and Ellen would marry John S. Weisenburger. Ellen had several children and so did Adeline but Ellen’s son Alvy (Alvan) and Adeline’s son Red (Charles) ended up be very good friends, fishing and hunting buddies, and their friendship lasted until the last moments in life. Their wives Grace and Josephine became good friends too since they were both fishing and hunting widows. On a side note, John Henry and George Miller owned a large construction company in Defiance. George took care of the concrete and masonry, Henry took care of the rough carpentry and John took care of the finish wood working. After the civil war and Henry’s death, both John and George assisted Mary financially, plus she had a widow’s pension. Eventually John bought out George and he alone owned the company. John C. Barber took over the company from John Miller and he built many buildings and churches around Defiance. The only building remaining at Defiance College that his company built is Tenzer Hall.
