"Jennie"1 RICHARD, JosephA, XavierB) (#7) was born in Stryker, Williams Co., OH 3 OCT 1885. he was born premature, at approx. 7 to 8 months, his parents were visiting his grandmother at Stryker when his mother went into labor. Charles died 8 APR 1968 in Defiance, Defiance Co., OH, at age 82. Kidney Failure, Stroke, all caused by diabeties His body was interred APR 1968 in Riverside Cem., Defiance Co., OH.

He married Josephine Barbara "Josie" DEHAUS 11 JUN 1913 in St. John's Cath., Defiance Co., OH. (Josephine Barbara "Josie" DEHAUS is #8.) Josephine was born 6 JUL 1889 in Defiance, Defiance Co., OH. Josephine was the daughter of Anthony Henry DEHAUS and Elizabeth UMBS. Josephine died 24 MAY 1985 in Defiance, Defiance Co., OH, at age 95. The doctors believed her life could be extended by treatments but she felt that her life had been served to capacity and she refused treatments. She was in the nursing home for only a few months prior to her death, and her mind was clear and sharp right up to the time of death.

Her body was interred MAY 1985 in Riverside Cem., Defiance Co., OH. She was baptized 1889 in St. Johns Cath., Defiance Co., OH. By Her Grandson; William J. Barber whom she spoiled. Grandma Jo as all us grandchildren called her was a large framed lady and loved to eat. She knew very little about her father who died when she was about a year old. She was a very strong minded woman who kept her family in line, and even up to the last minute of her life, she stayed in tune with all family functions. All her children called her "Josie", not very often did they use mom. Grandma Jo had severe arthritis and had her hips joint replaced. She also had it quite severe in her right shoulder. Grandma Jo and her sister Kate both had hearing problems later in life. Grandma Jo and her sister Kate had very high blood pressure Her hair grayed very early in life at arround 20 years of age

He was baptized 1913 in St. John's Cath., Defiance Co., OH. Defiance Crescent News Mon. April 8, 1968 Charles D. Barber, 82, 846 Kentner, died at 1:10 am. today in Defiance Hospital. He had been hospitalized here and in Fort Wayne since Feb. 29. He was born in Stryker, (his grandmother Jane Brown's home) Oct. 3, 1885, a son of John C. and B. Adeline (Miller) Barber. on June 11, 1913 he and Josephine Dehaus were married. Surviving are the wife; one daughter, Katherine Barber Port Clinton; three sons, Thomas, Rhode Island; James rt. 6; and Charles J. 715 Westwood dr. and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mrs Anna Gingrich, Mrs Emma Rice and Miss Minnie Barber, and one brother William. He was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church. For 18 years he was a barber and in 1940 began working for Machine Screw Products Co., retiring in 1954. He then opened a lawn mower repair shop and in 1964 retired again due to health. Services will be in St. John's Catholic Church at 10 am. Wed. with Msgr. John J. Vogel officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 8 pm. Tuesday in Mast and Mock Funeral home. By William J. Barber "At the age of 16 (late fall of 1901) grandpa lost his lower right leg just below the knee in a auger at the Hicksville elevator, He had fallen off the back of a wagon into the auger, so all his life he had a wooden leg. The Hicksville elevator was operated by Charles Gingrich his brother-in-law. He was staying at His Sister & Brother-in-law due to the fact she was expecting a child. Grandpa had dark red hair lots of freckles and had brown eyes. He was a carpenter early in his life and was a instructor for the Civilian Consevation Corps. during the depression, he also worked as a telegraph operator for the B & O RR for a couple of years.

Charles weighed 160 pounds; was 5-feet 8-inches tall; had red hair; had frekels skin.

may have had early stages of prostate cancer based on significant or obvious signs or indications.
